Porn is a subject filled with taboos and yet thousands of American’s enjoy it every day... so we thought we would take a closer look at the relationships we have with pornography— how does it affect us, and how do we affect it. I think that porn is an interesting subject and I am by no means an expert. It seems to me that the internet age has brought a vast democratization to porn. Not only is it easy for every Joe-smoh to watch/enjoy, but now with amateur porn sites and porn sharing sites, everyone can be a porn star, or at least get exposure.
I think this may help in the making porn more realistic, no more sessions that last for hours, or massive penises on every person. Every shape, color, and body type are better represented because anyone can put (almost) anything online.
Sean...thanks for your insightful post...you've actually touched on several of the issues that we are hoping to talk about in this series...without even the series officially launching!! Porn can, for lots of people, raise a whole host of complex issues like: power, exploitation, race, gender, masculinity, femininity, sexism, class, body type, sexual roles, desire, sexual safety, fantasy vs. reality, etc. It will be interesting to see if we can start an actual online dialogue about these issues!!
