Queer adults are social media savvy, according to survey.

Data recently released by Harris Interactive on July 13, suggests that members of the adult queer community are more social-media-savvy than their heterosexual counterparts. This isn’t all that surprising once you look at how many internet memes consist of men in drag…but the statistics are still pretty interesting.

In the survey, more than half (54 percent) of gay men and lesbian respondents report reading some type of blog, compared to only 40 percent of heterosexuals. The survey also found that 36 percent of gay and lesbian adults read news and current issue blogs, compared to 25 percent of heterosexual adults; 22 percent of gay and lesbian adults read political blogs, compared to just 14 percent of heterosexual adults; 25 percent of gay and lesbian adults also read entertainment and pop culture blogs, compared to 16 percent of heterosexuals.
