Is Homophobia Really Self Phobia?

Is some Homophobia Self-Phobia? That was one conclusion drawn by a recent study led by researchers at the University of Rochester.   Four separate experiments or questionnaires were conducted upon a total of 640 students in the US and Germany.  There is little previous research on the role that societal views and those influenced by authoritarian parenting have upon our view of self and sexuality.  Those components are just one part of the study which admittedly has some limitations given that participants were all college students.   As the article mentions researchers explored participants “explicit and implicit sexual attraction.”  These outcomes were captured by measuring what participants said about their own “sexual orientation” and then again compared to how they reacted to timed tasks such as being shown words or images as well as through questionnaires.  Looking at the study from a common sense point of view, life experience, and those experiences shared with me by others the conclusions drawn are completely logical.  What do you dear readers think?  Is this study something that validates what many of us already assume to be true?
