Within the contexts of a conversation I was having with someone about sexual risks the subject of Watersports came up.  Watersports also known by the more clinical term urolagnia is sexual excitement derived through urine or urination.  Under this heading there are many fetishes, bdsm, and sexual role play that people may decide to try that involve urine.  Without singling out one specific activity I am choosing to focus on the risks and safety issues.  Urine is essentially safe for most sexual activities outside of the body.  Just beware of abrasions, cuts, or pimples on the skin as those can be potential infection sites if your partner has some sort of bacterial infection in their urine such as Chlamydia or Gonorrhea.  You could possibly be infected through broken skin if your partner has one of those infections. The drinking or ingestion of urine is also something to be careful of.  Low risk in terms of HIV infection but a much higher risk if your partner is infected with an sti and the urine happens to get into your mouth or anus.  The smell and taste of urine may also be impacted by infections, drugs, and food.  Dark green vegetables, fruit, and coffee heavily impact urine taste and smell. Byproducts of some drugs are also excreted in urine so it is wise be aware of what someone is using recreationally or otherwise.
