Great body image article.
I read it a few days back while eating a not so healthy late night snack in bed.
If we look at gay men as a group you can certainly see how social pressures to stay thin and youthful do serious harm to some guys.
Eating disorders, excessive working out, and drug abuse are all things that can and do occur as a reaction to these pressures.
I certainly have given in to social pressure to stay as thin as possible at times. Have you and to what extent has the social pressure to not get fat impacted your life?
Why don't gay men get fat?
Discuss!

I am a Gay man . I really don't know what you are trying to say . I have never experienced this " social pressure " .
If your identity is based upon what you feel other people think about you , thats not some thing to be " Out -and-Proud" , about .
Being fat or thin does not a fajita make ... They are born, not bred ... Socialized cannibalism , the fat always win.
At least that should be obvious ...
Interesting article----and interesting thoughts, Jimmy.
While I think there are probably some pretty sweeping generalizations about queer men in this article.....I have to admit that as I read the piece there were a number of things that had pangs (and sometimes painful pangs) of truth to them!
As a gay man I have always struggled with what I see in the mirror and as I read this it's impossible for me to not admit that at least SOME of the issues being raised here are at the core of my insecurities about my body and my appearance.
