How To: Spot Health Fraud Scams

The FDA recently put out a video on avoiding health fraud scams. You know, the quick fix, going to remedy every health issue you have while allowing you to drop that last 30 pounds and improving sexual performance kind of a scheme. Well, fortunately for you I've watched the video and summarized the tips below. If you want to learn more, click here.

How to Spot and Protect Yourself Against Health Fraud Scams:

1) Avoid television, internet and other offers with phrases like: "quick fix", "scientific breakthrough", "cure all", "no-risk money back guarantee", etc.

2) If you have been told by multiple doctors or medical sources that a disease does not have a cure, it is highly unlikely a copper bracelet or a massager will cure that disease.

3) Understand that most "doctors" in informercials are actually actors

4) Do NOT give out your Medicare ID number to a company over the phone or over the internet; This may be a scam to get your number and you may not even get the product

5) Speak with your doctor before adding products or practices to your disease treatment; combining a new product such as a supplement with your current treatment may cause a dangerous interaction

Why You Should Follow These Tips

1) Scams waste your money

2) Using these scams instead of seeking medical treatment may delay your treatment and diagnosis which could worsen your health

3) The scam/fraudulent treatments may make you sick
