Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. Get your cholesterol levels and blood pressure checked regularly by an LGBT-friendly healthcare provider. Learn to understand what these levels are and how to manage them through diet, exercise and if necessary, medication(s).
Just last month was American Heart Month. During this time, healthcare institutions like the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, worked to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke. They are, respectively, the first and third leading causes of death in the U.S. They are the principal causes of cardiovascular disease death and are also major causes of disability.
High blood pressure and high blood cholesterol are both risk factors for developing heart disease. Get your levels checked regularly with an LGBT-friendly healthcare provider, and work to reduce risk factors that you can control.
