CNN reports: This morning, President Barack Obama brought the long political struggle over the military's controversial "don't ask, don't tell" policy to a close, when he signed legislation that will bring an end to the ban on openly gay men and women serving in the armed forces.

"Our people sacrifice a lot for their country, including their lives," Obama quoted Admiral Michael Mullen. "None of them should have to sacrifice their integrity as well."
